What is a Brownfield?

Intro
The City of Florence was awarded a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in June 2003 to implement a brownfields assessment project. The focus of this initiative will be to assess and redevelop the properties in the City's "triangle" region, including the former Bush Recycling property.

City officials and the managing contractor, Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) will work closely with community leaders, Florence's business community, property owners and other stakeholders to establish assessment priorities and gather input for redevelopment planning. A Taskforce of community representatives, City officials and business leaders will be formed to guide the assessment and redevelopment planning process.
