Regions across the country are realizing that economic and community development initiatives must
include collaborative public-private partnerships that span multiple jurisdictions. Bringing all
parties to the table can be challenging, and keeping stakeholders engaged in long-tern results-oriented
activities can be even more difficult. Managers of these collaborations must be able to identify,
understand and address the needs and concerns of each group.
As a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) plays
a unique role as an integrator and collaboration-builder. CTC understands the drivers and
“language” of the government, academic, industry, community and nonprofit sectors.
As one example, CTC is currently assisting in the formation and management of a
public-private coalition related to the development of a regional hydrogen economy. The project
leverage’s CTC’s expertise in fuel cells, collaboration-building, research and strategic
planning to develop initiatives that promote the commercialization of hydrogen production,
storage and distribution technologies by the region’s research institutions and business community.
The public-private partnership includes a national laboratory, several university research centers,
business leaders and government stakeholders.
CTC is particularly effective in facilitating partnerships that involve federal government
stakeholders who typically have very different agendas than local stakeholder groups. Combined with
an ability to engage the public through community outreach and local grassroots nonprofit organizations,
CTC’s collaboration-building efforts span the gamut - from the federal compliance officer to
public audiences.
Pulling together and managing effective public-private partnerships across a variety of disciplines
enables CTC to offer our clients a dynamic capability to develop regional consensus and support
for action-oriented economic and community development strategies and initiatives.
